Channel letters are individual 3D letters, usually lit with LEDs, mounted on your building front. They are the standard look for shopping centers and retail.
Most landlords and cities have sign rules and permits. A local shop can help with the drawings and permit paperwork.
Usually yes for permanent exterior signs. Rules depend on the city or county and your landlord.
Front-lit letters glow through the face; back-lit (halo) letters glow onto the wall behind. A shop can show samples.
